Primary Instructor
Liberty and Justice (Fall 2022)
This course is an introduction to political philosophy. It surveys selected writings in the history of political philosophy by Plato, John Locke, Karl Marx, and John Rawls. These political philosophers were all interested in justice, and how to best govern and structure a society. The modern philosophers were also guided by a powerful concern for the value of individual human liberty in the context of modern society. The course will teach students how to engage with primary philosophical texts.
